Small Business Startup Checklist

Before you start your amazing new business venture, there's a ton of pre-planning, including a lot of research. Many people have nothing more than an idea when they come to me for a logo. While I'm always happy to work with what I have, I want my clients to be set up for success, so the proper research and business plan being in place will help their logo and branding have longevity.

Here are a few steps to take to ensure your business plan will match the marketing scheme you have in mind. And Radiant Resolution is happy to help you in that department!

Define your Business

Every business starts with an idea or goal. What are you offering? How will it be a success? What makes it DIFFERENT than what is already out there? This question is particularly important. As a designer, we want to know what makes your business different and reflect it in your marketing.

Do the Research

It's imperative that you research the field you want to start your business in. Know your market, know the industry, take the education needed and most importantly, get to know your customers and competitors. Again, knowing what will make you different is essentially, because you will have competition.

Plan Your Budget

Starting a business costs money. Be sure you research and plan the funds you'll need (don't forget the marketing budget!) and plan for an investor if necessary.

Mingle

Once you have an idea and research in place, it's important to speak with professionals in the business and possible investors or partners. Perfect your pitch and keep it short and to the point. Capture your audience with a clever and enticing speech.

Plan the Paperwork

Every business needs an admin, and whether that is you or a hired professional, it's something that will need to be done. It's important to research and complete the appropriate legal procedures (including becoming an Inc. or LLC, etc.), tax information, and purchase the appropriate software you need.

Test, 1...2...3...

Testing your product or business is an important step many people skip. Use your friends or family to test and receive feedback to ensure everything goes off without a hitch when you're ready for the big reveal.

Now, Finally, Plan the Brand!

Only after all of the steps should you start to prepare for hiring your branding designer and web designer. You may also need additional packaging design as well, and the appropriate templates should be ready and provided as needed. Once you have a brand and website in place, you should be keeping your audience updated via stunningly-designed social media. Radiant Resolution can help with all of this, so contact us today with a free quote!

We can't wait to hear about your new business plan!
